ROYSE CITY -- Funeral service for Vollie Thornton Sims Jr., 53, of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Royse City Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Schoenrock officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.

Mr. Sims died Friday in Lubbock.

Born April 26, 1926 in Pittsburg, he was the son of Vollie T. Sims Sr. and Lennie Jeffcoat. He was married on Feb. 9, 1946 in Greenville to Ruby Nell Stewart. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Sims was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of Lubbock; mother, Mrs. V. T. Sims Sr. of Garland; and sister, Mrs. Naomi Crafford of Garland.
