Mary Sutton

April 6, 1923 - June 5, 2005

Mrs. Mary Elsie Gibson Sutton resident of Fort Smith, former resident of McCrory, died Sunday, June 5, 2005. She was 82 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Pumpkin Bend Cemetery with Bro. Eddie Sutton, officiating. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory with their directors in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sutton was born April, 6, 1923 in Pumpkin Bend, the daughter of the late Jim and Nancy Fryer Gibson. She was a graduate of Pumpkin Bend Schools where she was an outstanding basketball player. She was married on April 10, 1947 to Charles H. "Charlie" Sutton who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sutton loved sewing, was a very talented craftsperson and tailor. She made Mr. Sutton's suits when they were younger. "Mrs. Elsie" was a big kidder and loved people, always extending a helping hand to anyone in need.

Survivors include one son: Charles "Chuck" Sutton and his wife Erika of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Robin Brown and Greg Sutton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials be made to any Alzheimers unit.
