This is a picture of William Floyde Simmons, his wife Melvina Jane Holt-Simmons holding their daughter Lily Pauline Simmons (b 1909), William's 16 year old half-sister Ida Fryer, his 8 year old niece, Ola Guess (Gess/Guest), and his mother, Clara Smith Hawkins-Simmons-Fryer.
Pumpkin Bend, in Woodruff County, was a township full of people who owned 40 acres of land. They were very poor. Today, it is filled with rice fields as far as the eye can see. There are no more of the original houses left.
